My Realities

The barriers that exist within my current school's context varies. I don't feel that the high school is moving in the right direction due to apathy and defeatism. My high school has not performed well academically and teachers are not willing to change their ways. Many times they stir up issues with the principal that are tangential to teaching and learning. Evaluation and assessment is not refined to meet the needs of the students that the school serves. The school district is also in fiscal emergency which creates a host of other problems and issues that thwart progress.

I have learned a great deal from this blogging activity. I look forward to being able to respond to my peers responses and comments. This is a great way to gain insight and pose questions freely about topics that matter to me.

  1. What and / how do you think this will all pan out? Do you think it would be best for the students if the state comes in and takes control... or continue as is? Is total replacement of staff an answer, or a select few? It will be interesting to see how this comes out
    Thanks for sharing

  2. Do you think that teachers are not informed about the realities of what is happening in the school district?

Dr. Roby keeps pressing the issue of school culture. Do you think that school culture is the issue or problems greater than this?
